I read the book the Magic Tree House book, "Vacation Under the Volcano." In this story Jack and Annie travelled in the magic tree house to ancient Rome. They landed in the Roman town of Pompeii. In the story, I liked when the old lady kept pointing her finger at Jack and Annie. She then helped them to find the lost story and warned them about the volcano. I liked when the volcano erupted. And I liked when Hercules from the lost story helped save Jack and Annie and helped them get back to the tree house.

TRUE STORIES - American Girl Book
This book is about girls across the country telling their story. For example “Locks of Love” is a story about a girl who has a disease where she can’t grow any hair and she is allergic to her hair. So she had to move somewhere besides California. At her new school people made fun of her. She tried wearing a wig but whenever she did a somersault it would fall off. But one day she got a wig and it was real hair from other children and it was like a suction cup. She did all she could but the wig would not come off and no one made fun of her anymore.

The first book I read this summer was The Host by Stephenie Meyer. She is well-known for the Twilight Saga. The Host is about an alternate world where these weird shiny centipede type creatures called “souls” are taking over planets and the species that live on them in order to make the planet a better place. But of course, not everyone wants this to happen. On Earth, there are people who are hiding from the souls and trying to save as many people as possible. The main soul in this novel is called Wanderer. She is given a human girl’s body to invade. When she does, the girl’s thoughts can still be heard. This sparks a wild and dramatic adventure involving escape, hiding, confusion, trust, and love. The Host is an awesome book, definitely one of new favorites.

The Happy Cheapskate
This book by Reader's Digest was full of ways to spend less money. With the economy like it is I thought it would be fun to read about ways to cut costs. It was filled with things like buying a small spray bottle and filling it with olive or vegetable oil to make your own oil spray bottle as it is much cheaper than buying a spray can. When using the oven, set pans of food on the back burner
that you want to keep warm. Doing this in the summer time will also prevent your kitchen from getting so warm. Also in the kitchen, don't run the dishwasher half full, but do run it at night when rates are cheaper. The book covered everything from savings to laundry to the car. Read this book and find out how to save money and time.
